unumsearch
One engine with thin front-ends: a library, a CLI with stable JSON output, a daemon (local HTTP/JSON and stdio JSON-RPC), an MCP server and an Agent Skill. It reads a compact trigram index, opens only the files that can match and verifies them against the real file contents, so answers are exact. Secrets-safe by default. No GPU, model or network dependencies.
- Live terminal race, 12 agent search patterns (v0.1.5): unumsearch 217 ms vs rg 4.03 s, ugrep 25.0 s (evidence)
- Daemon p50 over 20 agent regexes: 64 ms vs rg -l 347 ms (evidence)
- Weak spot: one-shot CLI on a small repo: 12 ms vs rg 9.8 ms (rg is faster here) (evidence)
